Get the Ezine Privacy Button
What Is the Button?
The Ezine Privacy Button is this graphic:

What Does the Button Mean?
Sites which display the button have agreed with the Core Principles of Ezine Privacy. They have agreed to honor these principles for the ezines they offer.
What Does It Take to Display the Button?
In order to display the button, a site must follow the following steps:
- Agree to follow the Core Principles of Ezine Privacy.
- Complete our registration form (below).
(You do not need to wait for acknowledgement or permission after you submit the form.)
- Place the button on the website in accordance with our Button Use Policies.
Core Principles of Ezine Privacy
The Core Principles of Ezine Privacy are discussed in more detail on their own page in this site. In summary, they consist of the following items:
- 1. Develop, display and reference a Privacy Policy identifying all Personal Identifying Information (PII) collected by and for the ezine and guaranteeing privacy, confidentiality and limited use of all such information.
- Ensure "open rate" and "click-through" tracking is not associated with Personal Identifying Information (PII).
- Ensure that subscriptions are "opt-in only", delivering ezines only to those who request them.
Button Use Policies
You must follow these rules when you display the button:
- Do not alter, tweak, recolor, resize, adjust or in any way modify the button.
- Link the button to "http://EzinePrivacy.org". Do not add a trailing slash nor resolve the link to the actual page. Capitalize the "E" and "P".
- Include alt text for the button that says "This site follows the Core Principles of Ezine Privacy from EzinePrivacy.org - Defending the privacy of ezine subscribers"
- Include title text for the link that says "EzinePrivacy.org - Defending the privacy of ezine subscribers"
- The button may be either linked from this site, or copied to the linking server. If copied, the file name must be "ezineprivacy.org.gif".
- The button should be visible on the appropriate privacy page, as well as near the spot on the site where subscriptions are solicited.
- The button may, if desired, be displayed in HTML email. If it is used in HTML email, the use policies should be followed.
The following HTML shows an example of these policies:
<a target="_blank" title="EzinePrivacy.org - Defending the privacy of ezine subscribers" href="http://EzinePrivacy.org"><img border="0" src="i/ezineprivacy.org.gif" width="89" height="31" alt="This site follows the Core Principles of Ezine Privacy from EzinePrivacy.org - Defending the privacy of ezine subscribers"></a>
Text Use Policies
In addition to displaying the button, qualifying sites may, if they wish, display text on the site and/or in emails. These are the policies for that text.
- The text may say "This site follows the Core Principles of Ezine Privacy from EzinePrivacy.org"
- If possible, link the characters "EzinePrivacy.org" to "http://EzinePrivacy.org". Do not add a trailing slash nor resolve the link to the actual page. Capitalize the "E" and "P".
